Currently Reading

It’s always a good day to read, but when it’s cold and drizzly outside, curling up on the couch with a book in front of a fireplace is especially good. Secretly, I don’t mind the yucky weather - it feels like an excuse to get swept up in a book. Here are a few of my favorites and what I’m currently reading.

Art Books

In terms of priority, inspiration comes first. You come next. The audience comes last.
— Rick Rubin

I think I will be re-reading The Creative Act for forever. Every time I go back and read it again I understand it differently. I’m currently reading Encounters with Artists and it’s fascinating. I don’t think you need to necessarily be an artist to enjoy it but if you are, WOW.

Nonfiction

You kind of have to geek out on history to love The Astors and I do and I did! Currently reading The Rules Do Not Apply - I’m about halfway done and liking it so far. She has a very clear and relatable voice in her writing.

Fiction

I loved these so much. They’re not my most recent fiction reads but I haven’t read anything since then that I’ve loved as much. Cloud Cuckoo Land is a slow starter - there’s a lot of plot lines and it takes a minute for them to converge and for you to be invested in the different character’s plots and back stories but TRUST me you will want to hang on. And Running Grave is the latest Comoran Strike novel. If you haven’t started this series yet, start with The Cuckoos Calling and you’re welcome.
