Everyday Trousers and Pattern Play

A few years ago when my daughter started the debate team she raided my closet for all things business-y. One of my favorite sweater vests made a reappearance when she came home from debate wearing and it made me say "awwwwww". (Number one because it's amazing the memories that clothing carries - it makes me wish I hadn't been so hasty to get rid of things. Number two because it looked better on her than me and number three because she is so grown up and ladylike and I could just imagine her walking into her very own office in the not too distant future rocking it out.) It made me think of this great outfit I've been loving lately. These trousers are becoming a go-to for me, and not just for business casual. I wear them all over the place! Pattered layers - Three Studios Blogt Pattered layers - Three Studios Blog  Pattered layers - Three Studios Blog

I really like the idea of layering monochromatic patterns. I think it's a great idea to take a tiny pattern like houndstooth or this tiny glen plaid, add something floralish and then have a larger pattern with it. Nothing too crazy like polka dots and stripes (unless that works for you!!). Anthropologie always has the best items to layer, whether it's in a slightly dressy, boho, or totally laid back casual way.

I'm wearing the Bainbridge Button-down, the Devon Sweatervest, and the Lory Trousers from Anthropologie, Celine sunnies, a Fendi Peekaboo bag, and my favorite The Horse Classic Wristwatch.
