Sundry and Lem Lem.
Sundry and Lem Lem are a match made in heaven. Especially this lightweight gauzy romper with this equally light and airy scarf. Walking around Uptown Charlotte in this outfit made me want to hop in the car and book it to the beach, which is no surprise since the founder of Sundry, Matthew Leblan sought to combine his upbringing in the French Mediterranean with his chosen home of Venice Beach, California when he created his line. Pacific Ocean meets the Mediterranean! So fun for Summer.
The story behind Lem Lem makes it even more fun to wear. From their website: Supermodel / actress and former World Health Organisation's Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Liya Kebede discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods and wanted to do something about it. Recognizing the beauty, quality and historic significance of their work, Liya started Lemlem in 2007 as a way to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving.
"By employing traditional weavers, we’re trying to break their cycle of poverty, at the same time preserving the art of weaving while creating modern, casual, comfortable stuff that we really want to wear."-Liya Kebede
I paired my Lem Lem and Sundry outfit with some of my Melvin necklaces, one of which is part of a line he did especially for Hilliard Studio Method. I have two- one that says "Body by HSM", and this one, which says "Beauty Is".
